Australia’s T20 World Cup 2024 Squad Announced

New T20 World Cup Squad announced for Australia, Smith Missing and Green Included: The Exciting Lineup for Australia’s Men’s T20 World Cup 2024

Cricket Australia has announced the 15-member squad for Australia’s men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will take place in the West Indies and USA in June. Mitchell Marsh has been confirmed as the captain of the team, leading the squad in T20 matches last year before officially being appointed as skipper by the selection committee headed by George Bailey.

In their pursuit of a second T20 World Cup title, Australia will be missing star batter Steve Smith, who has been omitted from the squad for the first time in ten years. Smith’s form had been lacking, playing just one game in the 2022 T20 World Cup and struggling in subsequent T20 series against India and New Zealand. Young talent James Fraser-McGurk, known for his powerful six-hitting skills, also missed out on selection.

Despite not having played international cricket for nearly 18 months, Ashton Agar and Cameron Green were included in Australia’s squad. Nathan Ellis will serve as the fourth fast bowling option alongside Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc. Wicket-keepers Josh Inglis and Matthew Wade were both named in the squad.

Australia is scheduled to kick off their T20 World Cup campaign against Oman at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 6, with matches against England, Namibia, and Scotland also on the horizon for the Group B contenders. The full squad includes Mitchell Marsh (c), Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green
