Matt Ryan to Join CBS Sports NFL Studio Show; Departure of Longtime Analysts Simms and Esiason Announced

New Blood Joins the NFL Today Crew: Matt Ryan Named Studio Analyst for CBS Sports

Matt Ryan, a 2016 NFL MVP and four-time Pro Bowl quarterback, is joining the CBS Sports team as a studio analyst on NFL Today. This announcement comes after the departure of Phil Simms and Boomer Esiason, who had long runs on the show. Ryan will be joining James Brown, Nate Burleson, Bill Cowher, and JJ Watt as part of the NFL Today crew.

Ryan made appearances in the studio during the playoffs and Super Bowl last season, where he joined CBS Sports as an NFL game analyst. In addition to his work on NFL Today, Ryan will continue to provide analysis for other CBS Sports programming.

CBS Sports president and CEO David Berson expressed his excitement about having Ryan on board, praising his performance and teamwork. Simms and Esiason’s contracts had expired after the Super Bowl, with both of them having had lengthy careers at CBS Sports. While they have departed from NFL Today, they will continue to work on a New York sports talk radio show simulcast on CBS Sports Network.

This move marks the first significant change under Berson, who recently took over following the retirement of chairman Sean McManus. CBS Sports expressed gratitude to Simms and Esiason for their contributions and dedication to the network over the years, setting a standard of excellence for NFL analysts. With Ryan joining the team as a studio analyst, it is clear that CBS Sports is committed to continuing its tradition of top-notch football coverage.
