New All Comers Record for Elizabeth Dekkers in 200m Fly at 2024 Australian Open Championships

Elizabeth Dekkers set a new All Comers Record in the 200m fly event at the 2024 Australian Open Championships, clocking in at 2:05.20. This was a new lifetime best for the 19-year-old swimmer, surpassing her previous record of 2:05.26 set in 2023. The difference between Dekkers’ two quickest times was just .06, with the majority of the gap coming from a faster start this year.

Despite the new record, Dekkers remains ranked third among Australian all-time performers in the 200m fly event and 14th in the world. The upcoming Trials in June will determine Dekkers’ future ranking, as she currently holds the second spot in the world this season.

In addition to her success at the 2024 Australian Open Championships, Dekkers has also achieved podium finishes at three international events. She won silver last year in Fukuoka with a time of 2:05.46, bronze at the 2022 Short Course World Championships with a time of 2:03.94 and gold at the 202
