The Nintendo World Championship is back: Online format and 13 classic NES game challenges.

The Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition is a new global competition that will take place on July 18. This event is open to players from all over the world and will be held exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. Participants will compete in over 150 small challenges based on classic NES games, including Balloon Fight, Donkey Kong, Excitebike, and more.

This digital-only edition of the competition is a tribute to the in-person Nintendo World Championships that were held in 1990, 2015, and 2017. Players can test their skills from home by competing in single-player mode (Speedrun) or locally in Party mode. Subscription to Nintendo Switch Online grants access to the World Championship mode, where players can compete in five rotating challenges each week to try and secure a place on the global leaderboard.

The Deluxe edition of Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition will be available on July 18 and features a physical version of the title, collectible pins, illustrated cards, and a replica of the golden NES ‘game pak’. This event promises to be an exciting and nostalgic event for fans of classic Nintendo games to showcase their skills and compete on a global level.
