NASCAR Fans Gear Up for Thrilling Dover Motor Speedway Race with Corey Heim on Pole
On Sunday, NASCAR racing fans will be treated to an exciting race at Dover Motor Speedway. Corey Heim, who is filling in for the injured Erik Jones, will lead the field with a lap of 162.191 mph. This marks his second pole at Dover and Kyle Busch’s 34th career Cup pole.
Following closely behind is Ryan Blaney, William Byron, Tyler Reddick, and Noah Gragson. Notable drivers like Denny Hamlin, Chase Briscoe, Michael McDowell, Alex Bowman, and AJ Allmendinger secured top 10 starting positions.
However, qualifying was not without its challenges. Zane Smith and Kaz Grala were unable to participate due to crashes in Group B practice. Corey Heim had some difficulty during qualifying as well after suffering a compression fracture in a lower vertebra following an incident at Talladega earlier this week. Despite this setback, he was able to complete the lap in 32nd place with a speed of 159.327 mph.
Additional issues arose during qualifying when Christopher Bell spun during his opening lap and scraped the rear of the car against the outside wall. However, he was able to recover and complete the lap within the allotted time frame. With these challenges behind them, NASCAR RaceDay will begin at 1 p.m., leading up to the green flag at 2:11 p.m., with FS1 providing coverage throughout the race day event.
The race promises to be exciting as drivers compete for points and bragging rights on this iconic track!
