Meltio awarded SME of the Year for pioneering industrial innovation with 3D printing

Meltio: Metal 3D Printing Company Takes Home SME of the Year Award for Innovative Process and Job Creation in Linares, Spain

In 2023, Meltio, a metal 3D printing company based in Linares, Jaén, was awarded the SME of the Year Award by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Banco Santander. Founded in 2019, Meltio specializes in industrial parts and has become a significant employer in the Andalusian town. The company’s innovative manufacturing process, which employs a multilaser to extract welding wire from a single head, has allowed it to achieve lower costs and increased efficiency in its operations.

The CEO of Meltio, Ángel Llavero, expressed his pride in the company’s contribution to the revival of the Linares area. The Minister of Economy, Carlos Body, and King Felipe VI were invited to visit Meltio’s facilities to see first-hand its impact on the local economy. The award highlights the efforts of SMEs in driving economic growth, creating jobs, and adapting to the challenges of the current market.

Felipe VI emphasized the importance of technology and innovation in maintaining competitiveness while Minister Corps highlighted the need to support SMEs for a strong and competitive economy. Innovation, sustainability, employment, and digitalization were key factors considered in selecting Meltio as the winner of this prestigious award. Over 2000 applications were received for this competition with 21 finalists contending for this recognition.

Meltio is not just an SME but also an essential component of Spain’s economy as it creates jobs and adds wealth. The president of Spanish Chamber of Commerce praised their role while Banco Santander’s CEO acknowledged their resilience in facing challenges and continuous efforts towards job creation and project development.
