Possible Measles Exposure for Eclipse Watchers at Children’s Museum

Measles Resurgence: Anti-Vax Movement Blamed for Recent Outbreaks in the United States

Measles outbreaks in the United States have increased in recent years, with a significant surge occurring in 2020. The anti-vax movement is being blamed for the rise, as many people are choosing not to get vaccinated due to misinformation and fear.

One of the most notable outbreaks occurred at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis during a solar eclipse event. A person who attended the event was later found to be infected with measles, prompting health officials to issue warnings about potential exposure.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that nearly two-thirds of measles cases since 2020 occurred in the past three months, indicating a resurgence of the disease. This highlights the importance of vaccination to prevent further spread of this highly contagious virus.

Symptoms of measles include a rash, fever, cough, runny nose, and tiny white spots in the mouth. Anyone suspected of having measles should contact their healthcare provider immediately and inform them of their potential infection to prevent further spread.

Individuals who have not received two doses of the measles vaccine are at the highest risk of infection. It is crucial for individuals to get vaccinated to prevent the resurgence of preventable diseases like measles and protect themselves and others from serious health complications.
