Louisville Area Female Athletes Shine in Softball and Lacrosse, Vote for Courier Journal’s Girls Athlete of the Week Now!
This week, several talented female athletes in the Louisville area shone on softball fields and lacrosse courts, earning them nominations for Courier Journal girls athlete of the week. Voting for the award is now open and will close at 6 p.m. on Thursday, with the winner being announced on Friday.
Among the nominees is Manual senior Cameron Breier, who had an outstanding performance in lacrosse with eight goals and six assists against Mercy. Portland Christian sophomore Ava Gish also received a nod for her impressive softball skills, with seven hits and five RBIs in games against Beth Haven, Presentation, and Christian Educational Consortium.
Another nominee, Collegiate senior Bridgette Haraden, stood out with six goals and one assist in a lacrosse game against Cooper. Mercy senior Maya Merrill was recognized for her excellent pitching skills, striking out 31 batters in games against Fern Creek, Atherton, Boyle County, as well as earning a save against Fern Creek. Assumption junior Lauren Satterly is also up for the award after recording six hits in softball games against Eastern, Male and Jeffersonville including two home runs and two stolen bases.
