Local Runner Sam Lange Makes History at Phil Esten Challenge and Earns GLIAC Track Athlete of the Week Title
Sam Lange, a track and field runner from Michigan Tech, recently made history at the Phil Esten Challenge in La Crosse, Wisconsin. At the event, he set a season-best time in the 1,500m race and emerged as the winner. This impressive accomplishment earned him the title of GLIAC Track Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career at Michigan Tech.
Lange hails from Washington, Illinois and has been dominating the outdoor season so far. His win at the Phil Esten Challenge was his fourth victory of the season and he maintained his undefeated streak with an impressive performance. He clocked an NCAA Provisional qualifying time of 3:48.38 in the 1,500m event, which is a remarkable feat.
Looking ahead, Lange and the rest of the GLIAC roster are preparing for the upcoming GLIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Grand Valley State. This championship promises to be an exciting opportunity for Lange to showcase his talents and continue his successful season.
