Local Breweries Shine at World Beer Cup: Logboat and River Bluff Take Home Awards for Unique Beers
Last week, Logboat Brewing Co. in Columbia received recognition at the World Beer Cup for two of their signature beers. Dark Matter, a wheat porter featuring a narwhal on its can, won silver in the Brown Porter category. This beer has a 6.6% ABV and flavors of dark chocolate and roasted coffee. Mamoot, an English Mild or Bitter variety, earned bronze at the competition. This beer is described as the laid back little brother to a brown ale and is perfect for breakfast with its 4% ABV.
Meanwhile, River Bluff Brewing from St. Joseph, Missouri also received an award at the event, taking gold in the American-Belgo-Style Ale category with their Sandy Dunes ale. This Belgian style ale is unfiltered and boasts peppery and fruity flavors. The World Beer Cup Awards were presented during the CraftBrewers Conference and BrewExpo America in Las Vegas on April 24th. For a full list of winners, visit the World Beer Cup website.
