Licking Memorial Health Systems: Bringing Healthcare Closer to Students and Communities with New Clinic
Intel’s presence in Ohio is bringing significant changes to the healthcare industry, with Licking Memorial Health Systems leading the way. As more people move to the state, the population in Licking County is expected to grow by about 30%. To meet the needs of this expanding community, Licking Memorial has recently opened a school-based clinic in Pataskala.
Located inside Licking Heights High School, this clinic is the first clinic run by Licking Memorial within a school. Kristine Plotts, one of the nurses at the clinic, emphasized the unique opportunity to care for students, staff, families, and community members all in one place. The convenience of receiving healthcare on-site allows students to minimize time away from their classes and ultimately improves their academic success rates.
Licking Memorial CEO and President Rob Montagnese highlighted the importance of expanding their health systems to accommodate the increased population brought by Intel. Plans are already underway to enhance services in Southwest Licking County and Northwest Licking County. Additional services and hours are being added to the Pataskala location, while future plans include developing services on 20-plus acres in Johnstown.
At the clinic, Plotts expressed her enthusiasm for helping students achieve optimal health and success both in school and beyond. Licking Memorial continues to work on planning additional expansions to meet the needs of the growing community.
