Preserving Fresh Vegetables for a Week: 5-Minute Tip

Keep Your Greens Fresh for Longer: The Expert Tips from Chef Kristin Marr

Storing vegetables properly is crucial for their freshness, and according to well-known chef and founder of Live Simply, Kristin Marr, certain vegetables require special care. When storing leafy greens like lettuce, kale, and spinach, it’s important to remember that they need a little moisture but not too much. If the vegetables are kept in sealed plastic packaging or washed before use, excess moisture can accumulate and cause damage. To keep these vegetables fresh for longer, Kristin recommends placing them in a zip bag with a paper towel, sealing the bag and storing it in the refrigerator. The paper towel helps absorb any excess moisture while allowing air circulation to keep the vegetables from wilting quickly. This simple method can extend the freshness of your leafy greens by another week or more.
