Jammies Outlast Morningside in a Doubleheader Thriller: UJ Softball Takes Home Victory in both Games

The University of Jamestown softball team faced Morningside University on Saturday, April 27 in the Mustangs’ Jensen Softball Complex. The Jimmies started the game with a bang, as Abby Blair singled home Trinity Gregg in the first inning to take an early lead. They added another run in the second, leaving Morningside struggling to keep up.

However, Morningside fought back in the third inning, scoring a run to close the gap and make it 2-1. The Jimmies responded with a run-scoring single by Gracie Fisher in the fifth, securing their victory with a final score of 3-1.

In the second game of the doubleheader, the Jimmies took an early lead once again, scoring three runs on five hits in the second inning. Morningside came back strong and tied things up at 3-3 after scoring three runs of their own in the third. Both teams continued to score throughout the fourth inning before Morningside secured a commanding 10-6 victory.

Gentry Turin from University of Jamestown and Kennedee Jones from Morningside University had standout performances during this game. Turin contributed with two RBIs, while Jones finished with an impressive batting average of .750 after going 3-for-4 with two runs and five RBIs, including a two-run homer that helped secure Morningside’s win. Camryn Schwab also scored for Jamestown but it wasn’t enough to overcome Morningside’s lead.
