Israeli Army Spokesperson Confirms April 1 Strike Targeted Terrorists, Resulting in Iranian Consulate Destruction

On Monday, the Israeli army spokesperson announced that the victims of the April 1 strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus were believed to be “terrorists” who posed a threat to Israel. This was the first official comment from the army regarding the attack, and it came after a week of speculation about what had happened.

According to Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, those killed in the strike were members of the Quds Force, Hezbollah, and Iranian aides – individuals engaged in terrorism against Israel. Hagari emphasized that there were no diplomats or civilians among the casualties. The attack destroyed the Iranian consulate and resulted in 16 deaths, including seven members of the Revolutionary Guard Corps, with two being senior officers.

Israel never officially confirmed its responsibility for the strike, but Iran and Syria accused Israel of carrying it out. In response to the attack, Iran launched a significant missile and drone attack on Israel from its territory, which was intercepted by Israeli air defense systems.
