Iraqi Prime Minister Emphasizes Importance of Anbar Power Station Completion as He Reviews Project Progress

During his visit to Anbar governorate, Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani met with the executing company of the Anbar combined power station project in the Euphrates district. Al-Sudani discussed the progress of the ongoing work and emphasized the importance of completing the project on time according to required specifications. The government has provided all necessary resources for the completion of the project, which began in 2013 and was halted for approximately 8 years due to terrorism.

The Anbar power station project is a strategic initiative that will have a capacity of 1640 megawatts, utilizing local natural gas from the Okaz gas field as fuel to reduce energy production costs and ensure a stable energy supply. The completion rate of the project currently stands at 50%, with four gas units and two steam units being part of the station’s setup. This visit by Al-Sudani highlights the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and energy capabilities in Iraq.

In addition to reviewing the status of the Anbar power station project, Al-Sudani also reviewed electricity service throughout the governorate and followed up on the Akkas gas project, which will provide fuel for the power station once completed. This visit demonstrates the government’s efforts to remove obstacles to lagging projects and improve energy production in Iraq.
