Innovation and Dedication: Infobip’s ‘Alpha Centauri’ Campus Hosts Second Annual Innovation Day Showcasing Robotics, AI, and IoT Inventions

This weekend, Infobip’s “Alpha Centauri” campus in Zagreb will host Innovation Day, showcasing robots, innovation, and new creative inventions and ideas from students throughout Croatia. The event is a culmination of a four-year educational project by STEMI, Infobip, and A1 with the support of many partners. Over 500 students and over 100 teachers have been working on creating, programming, and designing dancing robots, AI applications, and IOT programs for the past six months.

Last year’s competition winners were from Rovišće Elementary School who participated in the “Robotics and Automated Systems” category. Their mentor, Davorka Medvedovi, expressed deep satisfaction in seeing their effort, dedication, and teamwork resulting in great success. This victory motivated the students to take on mentorship roles for this year’s competition, furthering their growth and development.

Bjelovar High School students also found success in last year’s competition, surprising their mentor Mihaela Kelava with their win. Along with technical challenges, they had to balance their school schedule to focus on the demanding task at hand. Kelava emphasized the importance of drawing student interest and engagement in projects like these, noting the need for a robust “pre-election campaign” to involve students successfully.

In addition to high school students, sixth-graders from Orehovica Elementary School in Orehovica were recognized for their chatbot project. Their mentor Tanja Oreški expressed pride and surprise at their success highlighting the importance of hard work diligence persistence teamwork mutual respect achieving goals. Last year students from Bjelovar Technical School received recognition for their initiative in building their own hexapods. Their mentor Ljudevit Sakal saw this victory as a great motivation for other students to get involved in robotics technical projects . The success of the students in these innovative programs has not only brought recognition to their schools but has also encouraged interest growth
