Joint Collaboration to Enhance Semiconductor Technology for Marine Propulsion Systems

Infineon and KSOE Partner on Electrification of Marine Engines using Energy-Efficient Power Semiconductor Technology

Infineon Technologies and South Korean shipbuilder HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering (KSOE) are partnering on a project to develop applications for the electrification of marine engines and machinery using energy-efficient power semiconductor technology. The companies have entered into a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MOU) to jointly work on this initiative. KSOE is focused on creating environmentally friendly, decarbonized ship technology that utilizes electricity and hydrogen.

Infineon will provide technical assistance and mentoring to KSOE in semiconductor power modules and system solutions. They will also share information on new semiconductor trends for marine applications. Through this collaboration, KSOE aims to enhance the reliability and performance of marine vessels’ propulsion drive technology, contributing to environmental sustainability through the electrification of ships.

This partnership represents an important step towards developing efficient and eco-friendly marine technology. By combining expertise in power semiconductor technology and shipbuilding, the two companies hope to drive innovation in the maritime industry. Infineon’s technical support and guidance will help KSOE improve the power solutions for propulsion drive technology, paving the way for more sustainable shipping practices. Together, they aim to create cutting-edge solutions that will revolutionize the way ships are powered and contribute to a greener future for the marine sector.
