Illinois Congresswoman enthusiastic about the expanding “bio-economy”

Illinois Congresswoman Advocates for Biofuels and Tech Hubs to Boost State’s Burgeoning Bio-Economy”.

Illinois Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski, who represents the 13th district, is thrilled about the burgeoning bio-economy and the prospects it presents for Illinois corn and soybean growers. She recently spoke to reporters at the National Association of Farm Broadcasting’s Washington Watch about the development of a bioindustry that is centered on the crops grown in central and southern Illinois.

Budzinski believes that expanding biofuels markets is crucial to this growing bio-economy. She sees biofuels as a key component in reducing carbon emissions while also supporting family farmers and growers in her state.

Apart from biofuels, Budzinski is hopeful that her district could be designated as a tech hub, which would bring new markets for agricultural stakeholders. Her district has been recognized as a finalist to be a tech hub in bioprocessing and fermentation, which could create exciting opportunities for family farmers in the area.

While the final decision on the tech hub designation is expected to be made in summer, Budzinski continues to advocate for the Next Gen Fuels Act in Congress. She believes that public-private sector collaboration can lead to creating a new industry that will benefit family farmers in Illinois.
