Hamilton Health Care System Expands Operations with Acquisition of Tennova Healthcare Cleveland

Hamilton Health Care System, a not-for-profit hospital in Dalton, Georgia, has announced its agreement to purchase Tennova Healthcare Cleveland, the largest hospital in Cleveland, Tennessee for $160 million. The acquisition is part of the healthcare system’s plan to expand its operations into Southeast Tennessee and provide quality care to the community.

Community Health Systems, which has been operating the Cleveland hospital under the Tennova name for nearly ten years, will sell all subsidiaries and medical offices associated with the hospital. The sale is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2024 pending regulatory approvals.

Jeff Myers, CEO of Hamilton Health Care System expressed his commitment to improving healthcare access and services in Southeast Tennessee through this acquisition. He emphasized that as an independent health system, their primary focus is on providing quality care to the community. By expanding into Cleveland, they aim to enhance the range of care options available to residents in the region.

“We are excited about this opportunity to expand our operations and improve access to quality healthcare services for residents of Southeast Tennessee,” said Jeff Myers. “As a not-for-profit health system, our goal is to keep healthcare local and accessible for communities we serve.”
