Halle Berry Takes Action: Advocating for Better Menopause Research and Treatment”.

Halle Berry has become a well-known figure in Hollywood as an Oscar-winning actor and director. However, in recent years, she has shifted her focus to advocating for better menopause research and treatment. When Berry, 57, went through menopause, she was surprised by the lack of knowledge and preparation she received from her doctors. Feeling like she had to endure the disruptive symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, and brain fog on her own, Berry decided to take action.

Berry has been vocal about her experience with menopause and has used her platform to raise awareness about the issue. She visited Congress multiple times to meet with lawmakers like Washington Sen. Patty Murray to work towards legislation that would increase federal investment in research on midlife women’s health, establish an awareness and education program on menopause, and offer grants for healthcare workers seeking to expand their training.

Her main goal is to reduce the stigma around menopause and change the narrative that women are sent out to pasture as they age. Berry envisions a world where entering this life stage is celebrated much like having a baby shower when expecting a child. She believes it is essential to recognize that women entering menopause are still valuable and have much to offer.
