From Screen to Stage: Schmigadoon! Musical Gets World Premiere at Kennedy Center

The Schmigadoon! TV series is now being adapted into a musical stage production. The world premiere of the Schmigadoon! stage musical was announced by the Kennedy Center’s Broadway Center Stage in Washington D.C., and it will run from January 31 to February 9, 2005 at the Kennedy Center’s Eisenhower Theater.

The musical is based on the Emmy-winning series that aired for two seasons on Apple TV+ from 2021-2023. It follows two New York doctors, Josh and Melissa, who go backpacking in an attempt to save their failing relationship but instead find themselves lost in the woods and trapped in the magical town of Schmigadoon, which resembles a classic Golden Age musical.

The production will feature songs from the series’ Grammy-nominated score, including the Emmy-winning “Corn Puddin’”, as well as new songs. Schmigadoon! was created by series creator and composer Cinco Paul, with direction and choreography by Tony Award winner Christopher Gattelli (Death Becomes Her, Newsies).

The TV series featured a diverse ensemble cast led by Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key. It also included regular, recurring, and guest stars such as Fred Armisen, Dove Cameron, Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Ariana DeBose, Jane Krakowski, Martin Short, Aaron Tveit, and Tituss Burgess among many others. While casting for the stage musical has not yet been announced
