Man detained for alleged involvement in tip jar theft at Miami Beach establishment

From Flag Vandalism to Petty Theft: Miami Beach Cafe Owner Feels Targeted by Repeated Thieves

Jeffrey Lewis Scott, 33, has been arrested on a petit theft charge for stealing money from the tip jar at a Miami Beach business, Local 10 News learned Thursday. Jail records show that he was taken into custody Wednesday.

Previously, Bagel Time Cafe made headlines for someone taking down an Israeli flag hanging outside and stomping on it. This happened three times in a matter of months, its owner said. However, this time the thief seemed to only want someone else’s hard-earned cash.

“Smooth as butter,” Bagel Time owner Josh Nodel told Local 10 Tuesday, adding that the crook got away with $200. “He comes inside, comes to the counter, goes to my wife…I guess she was giving him a free bagel.” To add insult to injury, the thief went into the tip jar where they keep large bills.

As of Thursday morning, Scott was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $2,500 bond. Copyright 2024 by WPLG Local10.com – All rights reserved.
