From Finance to Tribal Advocacy: Sharon’s Journey at Choctaw Nation Headquarters

Sharon, a tribal member with a family business, visited Choctaw Nation Headquarters thirteen years ago in search of job opportunities. Despite her busy schedule, she never gave up on her dream of serving her tribe. Eventually, she landed a job in the Finance Division thanks to Connie Zalenski who offered her an opportunity and encouragement.

Throughout her tenure at Choctaw Nation, Sharon’s role evolved as she now works in tribal advocacy. In the Recruitment Department, she assists Choctaw tribal members in finding employment, educational resources, training, mock interviews and interview attire. She finds fulfillment in helping individuals achieve their dreams of working for the tribe.

Sharon believes that there are plenty of resources available to Choctaw Nation members and encourages them not to underestimate their abilities. She emphasizes the support system in place to help individuals succeed and achieve their goals within the tribe. Her passion for tribal advocacy shines through her work as she remains dedicated to empowering Choctaw tribal members to reach their full potential.
