Europe should only allow independent Internet use from age 15, says Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron Calls for Stricter Regulations on Online Services and Parental Control for Young People in ‘Civilizational Battle’ Against Cyberbullying, Radicalization and Child Safety Concerns.

French President Emmanuel Macron has called for stricter regulations on online services and unrestricted access to the internet for young people until they are at least 15 years old. Macron emphasized the need for parental control for younger children, citing dangers such as cyberbullying, pornography, and child sexual abuse online. He compared allowing children to use the internet without supervision to sending them into a jungle, highlighting the lack of regulation and moderation in the online space.

Macron also warned against radicalization of young Muslims through platforms like TikTok. The World Health Organization conducted a study that revealed that a significant number of schoolchildren between the ages of 11 and 15 have experienced bullying online, which can lead to physical and mental health issues. Macron called for a “civilizational battle” in Europe to protect young people from the dangers of the online world and ensure their safety and well-being.

While there are concerns about online safety for young people, adults can also take steps to enhance their workspaces with resources such as ergonomic office chairs and privacy films for windows. It is essential for individuals to prioritize both their physical and mental well-being in all aspects of their lives, including when using technology and creating productive work environments.
