Fraudster from Atlanta Charged in Missouri for Multiple Felonies, Allegedly Traveled Around the Country with Forged Documents
A man from Atlanta, Georgia, named Cordary McFarland has been charged in Boone County with multiple felonies for allegedly defrauding a business in the area on Jan. 30. The charges include six counts of forgery and three counts of stealing. Despite the charges, McFarland is not currently in custody and a $100,000 bond has been set for his arrest. According to a bond memo, McFarland is believed to be in Springfield, Missouri, after authorities were able to track his phone and the rental car he used from Indianapolis, Indiana.
The bond memo also states that McFarland has been traveling around the country with the intention of passing forged documents to banks and financial institutions in order to steal money. The memo claims that McFarland has access to rental cars and airline flights through his associates in Georgia, which he uses as part of his criminal activities. The probable cause statement, while heavily redacted, revealed that an employee of a business in Boone County reported three fraudulent transactions involving forged checks totaling $1,810.17, $2,852.17, and $2,587.18.
