Fortissimo Films Picks Up International Rights to Momo Pictures’ Wildly Anticipated Chinese Sports Film ‘Wild Punch’

Fortissimo Films, a leading international film distributor, has announced that they will be handling the international rights to Momo Pictures’ new Chinese sports film “Wild Punch”. Directed by Yu Lik-wai and Wang Jing, the film is a sports and action drama about a past-his-prime mixed martial arts athlete competing against his young and talented trainee.

Momo Pictures, a subsidiary of NASDAQ-listed Zhiwen Group, is based in China and the Netherlands. This collaboration marks their first with Fortissimo Films. The company has previously produced films like “The Best Is Yet to Come,” “A Long Shot,” and “The Boy who Counted Cars.” “Wild Punch” will be launched at the Cannes Market next week.

Yu Lik-wai is one of the directors of the film and has worked on several feature films including “Love Will Tear Us Apart” and “Plastic City.” He is also known for his work as a cinematographer on films by renowned directors such as Jia Zhangke, Lou Ye, and Ann Hui. His previous work includes titles like “Love Will Tear Us Apart” and “Plastic City.”

Fortissimo Films has recently announced that they will be handling sales for other Chinese films such as Shen Jie’s “The Umbrella Fairy,” Feng Xiaogang’s “If You Are the One 3,” and Xu Haofeng’s “100 Yards.” The company has a track record of promoting cutting edge Chinese animation like Tian Xiaopeng’s “Deep Sea”.
