Friedman’s Shoes: A Small Business Success Story

Family-Owned: The 95-Year Legacy of Friedman’s Shoes in Downtown Atlanta

Founded in 1929, Friedman’s Shoes has been located at 209 Mitchell Street SW in Downtown Atlanta for 95 years. The family-owned men’s and ladies shoe store is known for its large selection of sizes, ranging from 7-22 in men’s sizes and 7-14 in ladies sizes.

Brett Teilhaber, owner of Friedman’s Shoes, shares the history of the business and his excitement for the future of South Downtown. His grandfather opened a shoe repair business in the area in 1929, and his father purchased the store in the 70s. Today, all four sons work in the family business alongside a total of eight employees.

Friedman’s Shoes is not just known for its selection of large size shoes but also carries all sizes for both men and women. They also have an online platform on LargeFeet.com where customers can purchase their products from anywhere.

Teilhaber is excited about the ongoing development happening in Downtown Atlanta, including projects like Centennial Yards where old railroad buildings are being revitalized. He hopes these developments will bring more life to the area and make it a hub once again for sports teams such as Braves, Falcons, Hawks, Flames/Thrashers that he used to watch during his childhood.

In addition to its unique offerings and rich history, Friedman’s Shoes has been featured on ESPN’s 30 for 30 series which brought even more attention to their unique offerings. With its long-standing commitment to quality customer service and exceptional product selection, Friedman’s Shoes continues to be a go-to destination for athletes looking for shoes that fit perfectly.
