Sol 1134: Small Beginning at “Pilgrim”

Exploring the Depths: The Curiosity Rover’s Search for Ancient Life in Mars.

The Curiosity rover is currently investigating an alteration zone around a fracture, with a focus on a “mini-start hole” to ensure safety before conducting a full drill hole. The target for drilling, named “Pilgrim,” is situated in the center of a Mastcam image.

The plan for the day includes the use of MAHLI to capture images of “Pilgrim” before and after drilling, as well as placing APXS over the target for overnight analysis. Additionally, measurements from DAN, RAD, and REMS will be taken.

Despite challenges with data volume and power constraints, the team managed to put together a comprehensive plan for the day. Tomorrow, I will be serving as the GSTL and it is anticipated that there will be a science block allowing for further characterization of the target using Mastcam and ChemCam.
