Yesterday, our team conducted various remote sensing, contact science, and wheel imaging activities on the second sol of the drill campaign at “Quela.” The images captured during the mission revealed fine lamination in some pebbles and monitored the health of the rover’s wheels. Today, we have a science block planned that includes a cross-contamination experiment in preparation for collecting a drill sample.
The science activities for today include a Mastcam multispectral observation of a block of Stimson sandstone, ChemCam RMI images of the layering in the butte, and ChemCam LIBS to analyze the composition of the pebbles. If everything goes according to plan, we will be ready to proceed with drilling a full hole tomorrow.
