Nueces County Public Health Services in Robstown to Open Five Days a Week Soon

Expanding Healthcare Access in Rural Areas: Nueces County’s Johnny Calderon Building Receives Facelift

The Johnny Calderon Building in Robstown serves as the main hub for healthcare services for residents of the surrounding communities. However, currently, these services are only available twice a week, which has made it difficult for people to access them, especially those living in rural areas. To address this issue, officials are working to expand healthcare access by making services more readily available.

Nueces County Director of Health and Wellness, Xavier Gonzalez, highlighted the importance of increasing access to healthcare for individuals in outlying areas. Previously, the Public Health Services at the Johnny Calderon Building operated on Tuesdays and Thursdays only. But now plans are in place to extend hours to Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., which will make it easier for people to access these important services.

The goal of this expansion is to make healthcare services more accessible to residents of rural areas who may currently face long drives to reach the nearest health department. Joe Gonzalez, Nueces County Commissioner Precinct Two, emphasized the county’s efforts to finalize a contract with a new vendor, Amistad, to provide these crucial healthcare services.

With the success of the Operation Health and Wellness Program, officials have identified a significant need for expanded healthcare services in rural areas. As a result, plans are moving forward to increase the availability of Public Health Services at the Johnny Calderon Building starting October 1st. This expansion aims to address the needs of the community and provide essential healthcare services to those who require them.

In conclusion, expanding healthcare access is crucial for residents living in rural areas who may face challenges when trying to reach existing healthcare facilities like Johnny Calderon Building. Officials recognize this need and have taken steps towards expanding public health services provided by Public Health Services at Johnny Calderon Building from Tuesdays and Thursdays only to Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m starting October 1st with Amistad as their new vendor provider.
