Ellsworth joins global community in celebrating Jane’s Walk: Exploring and preserving the town’s natural and historical wonders
Ellsworth, Maine is set to participate in Jane’s Walk for the third year, joining over 500 cities worldwide in celebrating this global event. Started in Toronto in 2006 as a tribute to writer and activist Jane Jacobs, the aim of Jane’s Walk is to encourage individuals to connect with their neighborhoods and develop a sense of pride in their community.
In Ellsworth, two walks are scheduled for Saturday. The first walk, focusing on nature, will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the River Walk North trail head behind the Ellsworth Public Library. The second walk, centered around historical Ellsworth, will start at 3:00 p.m. at the Old Burial Grounds on State Street. These walks are being organized by Heart of Ellsworth in partnership with GrowSmart Maine and the Ellsworth Historical Society.
Those interested in participating are encouraged to register for the walks on the Heart of Ellsworth website to find more information and get involved in this community event. By bringing people together to explore and learn about their surroundings, Heart of Ellsworth hopes to foster a sense of community pride and connection among participants. Through engaging with neighbors and the local environment, participants can develop a deeper appreciation for the place they call home.
