Egypt Boosts Strategic Reserve of Essential Commodities: Government Takes Proactive Steps to Address Potential Shortages

In Cairo, the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Dr. Ali Al-Moselhi, has announced that the Ministry has developed plans to create a strategic reserve of essential commodities. He stated that a contract has been signed to purchase 500 thousand tons of sugar, with shipments expected to arrive soon. During a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, efforts to secure basic commodities and expand the strategic reserve were reviewed.

Al-Moselhi reported that wheat supply operations are currently at high levels, surpassing rates seen in the past three years. The ministry has a significant stock of wheat in place already. Additionally, the ministry is working towards securing other important commodities for the strategic reserve.

The Minister emphasized the importance of these measures in ensuring a stable supply of essential goods for the people of Egypt. The government is taking proactive steps to address any potential shortages and maintain stability in the market. By increasing the size of the strategic reserve and securing key commodities, the Ministry aims to protect against any disruptions in the supply chain.

In recent years, there have been concerns about potential shortages of essential goods in Egypt due to fluctuations in global markets and geopolitical tensions. However, with these new measures in place, it appears that Egypt is taking steps to mitigate these risks and ensure a stable supply for its citizens.

Overall, Al-Moselhi’s announcement highlights Egypt’s commitment to addressing potential shortages and maintaining market stability through proactive measures such as creating a strategic reserve of essential commodities.
