Eastgate Town Center Shooting Leaves Two Wounded, Raises Concerns for Residents and Workers

On Friday morning, a 27-year-old man was shot near the Eastgate Town Center. According to Victor Miller of the Chattanooga Police Department, the shooting occurred around 10:00 am in the parking lot of the Eastgate Town Center. As the victim walked towards a business, a suspect or suspects began shooting at them, resulting in life-threatening injuries.

We spoke with two people who were inside different buildings in the area at the time of the shooting. The first person, who wished to remain anonymous, told us they heard two gunshots and that the victim came inside their building. They did not know what had happened outside but were shaken by the experience.

The second person we spoke with was Sheena Crow, office manager of Molly Maid, which is located across from where the shooting took place. She said she heard popping noises coming from her office but did not initially think it was gunfire. It wasn’t until she saw firetrucks and ambulances arrive on scene that she realized what had happened.

After learning about what had happened, Crow said she couldn’t help but think about a recent shooting at T-Mobile on Brainerd Road. She believes that two shootings in such a short amount of time raises questions and concerns for those living and working in the area. “We try to keep our doors locked at all times now,” she said. “Our girls have keys to get in and out to make sure our doors are able to stay locked.”
