Detroit Tigers Lose Heartbreaking Pinch-Hit Double in Ninth Inning to Texas Rangers

The Detroit Tigers lost to the Texas Rangers 5-4 on Wednesday, despite a strong effort. In the ninth inning, Josh Smith delivered a clutch pinch-hit double that drove in the winning run after Ezequiel Duran singled and advanced to second on an error by first baseman Spencer Torkelson.

Kirby Yates earned the win for the Rangers by pitching the final four outs, including striking out the side in the ninth inning. Meanwhile, Shelby Miller took the loss for Detroit as they committed three errors, leading to two unearned runs.

The game began with an error by Tarik Skubal that allowed Marcus Semien to reach base, eventually scoring on Adolis Garcia’s sacrifice fly. Kerry Carpenter tied the game for the Tigers with a home run in the second inning. However, fielding errors plagued Detroit in the sixth inning, allowing Texas to score three runs. Despite this setback, Detroit fought back and tied the game in the eighth inning before ultimately falling short.
