Attack in Sevran, France: Two fatalities in recent shooting outside of Paris

Deadly Shootings in Paris Suburbs Highlight Rise of Drug Trafficking Violence: Two Men Killed in Apparent Gang Dispute

On Sunday afternoon in the Paris suburb of Sevran, two men were shot to death in what appears to be a settling of accounts between rival drug trafficking gangs in France. This double homicide occurred just days after another incident that left one dead and four injured in the Beaudottes neighborhood, known for its conflicts.

The two victims, aged 33 and 34, were fatally shot around 6:15 p.m. local time on the street of Snowdrop in the Basse neighborhood. The perpetrator, armed with a pistol, fled the scene, leaving behind around twenty bullet casings. Authorities suspect a link to drug trafficking as both victims had a history of involvement in the drug trade and violence.

According to Actu 17, a specialized event information site, this double homicide is just one example of the rise in settling of accounts between criminal groups involved in drug trafficking in France. In fact, last year saw an increase in such incidents with 85 recorded deaths – a 20% increase compared to the previous year.

French law enforcement has conducted anti-drug operations across the country including dismantling well-known trading places like Rougemont neighborhood’s popular trading spot. However, despite these efforts, violent crimes continue to plague French cities as drug trafficking and dirty money fuel these criminal activities.
