Commissioners approve Uptown business’s request for ADA-compliant ramp

Community’s Persistence Triumphs as Top Deck Medical Aesthetics and Wellness Approved for Ramp to Assist Customers with Disabilities

On Wednesday night, the Butte-Silver Bow Council of Commissioners approved a permit for an Uptown business to build a ramp to assist customers with disabilities. The business, Top Deck Medical Aesthetics and Wellness on Granite Street, will be adding the ramp. After almost two hours of public comment, the commissioners unanimously approved Jamies request.

During the public comment period, many people with disabilities shared their stories, which seemed to have a significant impact on the commissioners. Over 20 community members spoke about the importance of the ramp for individuals with disabilities. This emotional testimony influenced the commissioners’ decision to approve the permit for the ramp.

Jamie Decker initially tried to secure approval for the ramp in June of last year. However, her request was repeatedly denied due to concerns about liability and encroachment onto a public right-of-way. After much persistence, Deckers efforts finally paid off with the approval from the Council of Commissioners. The ramp will now be constructed to improve accessibility for customers with disabilities at Top Deck Medical Aesthetics and Wellness.
