CMU welcomes new dean for its College of Engineering: Allen Robinson”.
In 2023, Allen Robinson became the dean of the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), after serving as the director of CMU-Africa in Kigali, Rwanda. Prior to his appointment as dean, he led the Environmental Protection Agency-funded Center for Air, Climate, and Energy Solutions. This center brings together researchers and students from seven universities and a national laboratory to explore technical and policy issues related to the impact of emissions from energy systems on air quality, climate, and public health.
Robinson’s research interests include policy analysis and decision-making in these areas. He is also a professorial position holder in both the Departments of Atmospheric Science and Mechanical Engineering at CMU. In addition to his work at CMU-Africa and the Center for Air, Climate, and Energy Solutions, Robinson has served as the president of the American Association for Aerosol Research.
