Charles Lee Heads to the Charlotte Hornets: A Seasoned Coach Brings His Expertise and Enthusiasm to a New Chapter
In Charlotte, the Hornets have announced that Charles Lee will be their next head coach. Lee has a long and successful coaching career, having been the top assistant with the Boston Celtics for several seasons. During his time with Boston, he helped the team achieve a 64-18 record, the best in the NBA and the fourth most wins in franchise history.
Before joining the NBA, Lee played basketball at Bucknell University and had a successful professional career overseas. He is excited to join the Hornets and work with their talented young core of players. Lee believes in the passion for basketball in North Carolina and is eager to get started in Charlotte.
The decision to hire Lee comes after Steve Clifford stepped down as head coach in early April. The Hornets are thrilled to have him on board and look forward to introducing him, his wife Lindsey, and daughters to the Hornets community as they work together to build something special in Charlotte. A news conference will be held after Boston’s playoff run ends to officially welcome Lee as the new head coach of the Charlotte Hornets.
