Management and unions to hold meeting in attempt to prevent strike at Charleroi airport on Thursday

Charleroi Airport Faces Strike: Negotiations Continue to Avoid Disruption for Passengers

On Wednesday, Charleroi Airport will hold another round of talks between management and unions in an attempt to avert the planned strike scheduled for Thursday. The airport’s head of communications confirmed this after a meeting on Tuesday evening, where the parties discussed their demands and concerns.

The union representatives announced the strike on Tuesday afternoon, which will disrupt operations at the airport, affecting over 17,500 departing passengers and 94 flights. However, despite efforts to reach an agreement during a previous meeting on Tuesday evening, no results were achieved. The negotiations continued into Wednesday morning with hope that a solution could be found to avoid the strike.

Nathalie Pierard, BSCA’s head of communications, sent out an email shortly after midnight confirming that further discussions would take place tomorrow morning. “A long meeting took place tonight between the unions and management,” she wrote. “We are working together to find a solution that satisfies all parties involved and avoids any disruption to our passengers.”

Charleroi Airport is urging passengers to monitor their communication channels for updates on the situation. They apologize for any inconvenience caused by the potential strike and are committed to ensuring smooth operations at the airport.
