Canadian Archery Legend Retires from Competition, Joins Coaching Ranks to Nurture Next Generation of Talent

In recent years, Canadian archer Kevin Evans has made the decision to retire from competitive archery. At the age of 61, Evans felt it was time to step back from the sport and make way for younger archers to take his place. Despite retiring from competition, Evans remains committed to archery and is taking on the role of a development coach for Canada at the upcoming 2024 Pan American Para Championships.

Evans has extensive experience coaching both able-bodied and para archers at local clubs near his home in Kootenay, British Columbia. He expressed his excitement about continuing to support the next generation of Canadian archers and help recruit new talent to the sport. The Canadian archery community has faced challenges in this regard, and Evans hopes that his efforts as a coach will help overcome these obstacles.

In addition to coaching, Evans also mentioned that he continues to stay involved with the sport through other means. He still enjoys watching competitive archery events and hopes to attend some in person when it’s safe to do so. Despite retiring from competition, Evans remains passionate about archery and hopes that his contributions as a coach will help ensure its continued growth and success in Canada.
