Campari Acquires Courvoisier for Record 1.08 Billion Euros: A Step Towards Expansion in the Spirits Industry

In recent news, Italian spirits group Campari has finalized the acquisition of French cognac brand Courvoisier for 1.08 billion euros, marking the largest transaction in its history. The negotiations for this acquisition began in December 2023 with Beam Suntory, the previous owner, and were solidified in February.

Campari, which was established in 1860, has expanded through strategic acquisitions since 1995. Today, it is a multinational company with a presence in over 190 countries and a diverse portfolio of around fifty brands, including Aperol, Grand Marnier, and Picon. The addition of Courvoisier to its portfolio will further strengthen its position as a leading player in the spirits industry.

The agreement with Courvoisier also includes a provision for an additional payment of 112 million euros in 2029 contingent upon meeting specific sales targets. This demonstrates Campari’s commitment to long-term growth and its confidence in the potential of the brand.
