Broncos Set to Revolutionize Quarterback Position with Nix, Wilson, and Excised Surtain II’s Contract
The Broncos have made significant moves in the past month, acquiring two new quarterbacks through trades and drafts. First-round pick Bo Nix will join the team this season, while Zach Wilson was traded from the Jets in a deal that saw him acquire a sixth-round pick and a seventh-round pick.
While Wilson has shown potential, his time with the Jets was marked by mixed results, as he completed only 57 percent of his passes for 6,293 yards with 23 touchdowns and 25 interceptions in 34 games. However, the Broncos are excited about his future in Denver and believe he has the opportunity to prove himself this season.
In contrast to Wilson, the Broncos exercised the fifth-year option on Pat Surtain II’s contract, guaranteeing him $19.8 million for 2025. With Wilson and Nix now joining their roster, the Broncos’ quarterback room includes Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci as they move on from the Russell Wilson era that ultimately did not deliver the desired results.
