Cocoa entrepreneurs excited about potential Brightline stop for their business

Brightline Train Stop Brings Promising Future to Cocoa, Florida with $5 Million in Local Funding

In Cocoa, Florida, the construction of a Brightline passenger train stop along the tracks is being considered by Brevard County. The local funding proposal will be up for a vote at the next Brevard County Commission meeting, where $5 million in local funds will be allocated towards the project. The total cost of the project is nearly $75 million, and efforts will also be made to secure additional federal funding.

The proposed 90-acre site for the Brightline train stop is located at the beach line curve of State Road 528 and U.S. Highway 1, which is significant as trains must slow down at this curve to make the turn south. The Tourism Development Council has already voted to allocate $5 million for project development, and now it will be presented to the county commission for further consideration. Local businesses are eagerly anticipating the train stop’s arrival, as it is expected to bring in new customers and boost economic activity in the area.

One local business owner who is excited about the Brightline train stop’s construction is Paul Hill, co-owner of Dirty Oar Beer Company in Cocoa Village. Hill believes that this transformative project has great potential not only for Cocoa but also for the entire Space Coast region. He expects that employment opportunities, tourism, and leisure travel will all increase with its development.

The City of Cocoa spokesperson, Samantha Segner, shares Hill’s optimism about the train stop’s impact on Cocoa and its surrounding areas. She believes that it has enormous potential to create new economic opportunities and attract tourists from all over Florida and beyond. The Brevard County Commission will discuss this proposal during their upcoming May 2 meeting with hopes of bringing significant benefits to both Cocoa and its neighbors on Florida’s Space Coast region.
