Breakthroughs in Healthcare: Washington University Receives $6.2 Million Grant for HIV Gene Therapy, Local Companies Recognized with ENERGY STAR Awards
Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis has been awarded a $6.2 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to fund the development of a gene therapy that could potentially lead to advancements in the treatment of HIV. The therapy aims to modify the immune system’s B cells to produce antibodies against HIV, making it an innovative approach to treating this disease. Meanwhile, Alexander Realty, led by broker-owners Renee and Mark Ottinger, celebrated its 25th anniversary in St. Charles County, Missouri. Sound Health Services marked its twentieth year of providing ear, nose, and throat care to the community, while Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Alliance Real Estate relocated to a central location in downtown Chesterfield, Missouri. Contegra Construction recently completed a pre-engineered building for AZZ Precoat and is also constructing a solar-powered manufacturing plant for Manner Polymers in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Lastly, three local companies were recognized with the 2024 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year awards for their leadership in supporting clean energy initiatives: Emerson Electric and Copeland, both based in St. Louis, along with True Manufacturing in O’Fallon, Missouri.
