Tulsa Man Develops Mental Health Event Series

Breaking Barriers: Normalizing Mental Health Through Community Support and Engagement

The popular local mental health event series, “I Didn’t Want To Tell You: Normalizing The Conversation Around Mental Health,” has been captivating audiences. The organizer, Bobby Dean Orcutt, started the series in late 2023 after struggling to find PTSD and anxiety disorder groups that met in person in the Tulsa area. Through social media outreach, Bobby discovered that many others were also searching for mental health resources in the region.

Since then, Bobby has organized six in-person events focused on mental health, with an overwhelming response from the community. The topics covered have been diverse, including trauma, addiction, depression, healing, treatment through psychedelics, religion, and spirituality. Notable guest speakers such as Sterlin Harjo and Mary Beth Babcock have been featured in the events.

Bobby will be joining us on the Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch to discuss the upcoming mental health event with artist Marlon F. Hall. If you are interested in learning more about the event, you can click here for more details.
