Brave Firefighters Battle Intense Flames at Auto Business in North Lincoln, Preventing Tragic Damage

Firefighters from multiple crews battled heavy flames at an auto business in north Lincoln on Monday afternoon. The fire was reported near 23rd Street and Cornhusker Highway around 2:30 p.m. at Lincoln Cars, according to MJ Lierman, a spokeswoman for Lincoln Fire & Rescue.

The cause of the vehicle fire that started the blaze is unknown, but Battalion Chief Mark Majors said that a car caught fire and caused the flames to spread rapidly to the building. The strong winds made it difficult for firefighters to enter the building and take a defensive approach, so they used aerial tactics to spray water from above. One of their main concerns was preventing the fire from spreading to the neighboring building, which they were able to save from the flames.

Unfortunately, Lincoln Cars sustained significant damage as a result of the fire. The roof and west wall collapsed, and there is a risk that more of the building may come down. The total estimated damage is $650,000, but fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the fire. Majors emphasized the danger of the situation and stressed the importance of taking precautions to protect both firefighters and nearby properties.

Despite these challenges, emergency crews responded quickly and worked together effectively to prevent further damage to Lincoln Cars or neighboring properties. Their coordinated efforts helped ensure that no one was injured in this dangerous situation.
