Bipartisan Unity Celebrates Motherhood: The Unveiling of the “From mother’s milk we come” Statue in the Senate
The bronze statue “From mother’s milk we come” was unveiled in the Senate this afternoon, concealed under a red cloth near the refreshment stand. Vera Omodeo, the artist behind the piece, created this work which depicts a woman breastfeeding a newborn and received applause from all parties at the ceremony led by Ignazio La Russa.
La Russa explained that after facing controversy in Milan, where the statue was rejected for placement in Piazza Duse, it would temporarily remain inside Palazzo Madama. This decision was made with the agreement of all group leaders and vice-presidents of the Senate as a tribute to Mother’s Day. The President emphasized the importance of supporting both biological and non-biological mothers and celebrating the memory of mothers shared by all individuals.
