Recently, a group of ice skaters from IceWorks Skating Club in Aston returned home to Delaware County after an exciting international experience in Bordeaux, France. This marked the first time that the Theatre on Ice team had competed internationally, showcasing a blend of dance and drama within the discipline of figure skating.

Twenty skaters had the opportunity to represent their country at the Nations’ Cup on April 25-26, joined by over 900 skaters from 47 other teams. Skaters like Emily McKay, 16, and Gemma Hay, 15, found the experience thrilling and intimidating, yet gratifying as they competed against talented individuals from around the world.

Despite being considered underdogs as a first-season team in the competition, the team from Aston managed to finish in fourth place. Coach Richard Sharpe expressed immense pride in his team’s accomplishment, emphasizing that their success exceeded all expectations at the international event. This exciting journey abroad brought back unforgettable memories for the skaters and the IceWorks Skating Club.
