Armenia’s Ambition: Strengthening Cooperation with NATO for a Safer South Caucasus
During a recent trip to NATO headquarters in Brussels, Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan discussed the current security situation and challenges in the South Caucasus. He also highlighted the ongoing process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. In addition, talks on normalizing relations with Turkey, a NATO member, were also mentioned in the Foreign Ministry report.
In his speech, Deputy Minister Kostanyan emphasized the importance of Armenia’s participation in the “Partnership for Peace” program of the North Atlantic Alliance nearly three decades ago as a vital step towards enhancing cooperation between Armenia and NATO. He reiterated Armenia’s readiness to deepen its cooperation with both NATO and its member states to improve defense and security capabilities.
The discussions touched upon international security issues of mutual concern, reflecting Armenia’s commitment to collaborate productively with NATO and its member states. Overall, the visit to NATO headquarters served as an opportunity to strengthen dialogue and collaboration on matters of regional and global security concern.
