Agscent Wins Pitch In The Paddock with Revolutionary Breath-Sensing Technology for Beef Farming
Dr. Bronwyn Darlington, the Managing Director and Founder of Agscent, won the Pitch In The Paddock competition at Beef2024 in Rockhampton. This year’s event attracted a record number of applicants and was highly competitive, with eight finalists presenting their beef-focused business concepts to a panel of judges and live audience.
Agscent’s innovative use of NASA-licensed technology caught the attention of the judges, with Dr. Darlington showcasing her company’s groundbreaking breath-sensing devices that have the potential to revolutionize methane measurement, pregnancy testing, and disease diagnostics through an affordable nanotechnology platform.
The inspiration for Agscent came from Dr. Darlington’s realization of the potential behind breath diagnostics technology originally developed for humans. By adapting this technology to her family’s large cattle and sheep property in rural New South Wales, she has set the stage for a new wave of advancements in the agricultural industry.
Beef Australia Board Director Jess Webb praised Dr. Darlington’s work as “shifting the dial” in the industry, acknowledging her company as a pioneer in using technology to improve farming practices and improve animal welfare.
